Answers:
You have two excellent answers. My point of view is,
simply put, High HDL = Good. High LDL= Bad
Cholesterol level target now advise is 4
Diet by all means but it did not and does not work at adjectives with me.
Take Statins and take them end thing at night. Source(s): Experience.
Cholesterol < 5.0 mmol/L--Desirable level corresponding to lower risk for heart disease.
High density lipoprotein >1.55 mmol/L--High HDL level, optimal condition considered protective against heart disease(Your HDL height is good)
Low density lipoprotein 2.6 to 3.3mmol/L--Near optimal LDL level.
Triglyceride <1.69mmol/L--Normal range, low risk
Eat a low-cholesterol, low-fat diet, which includes cottage cheese, fat-free milk, fish, vegetables, poultry, and egg whites. Use monounsaturated oil such as olive, peanut, and canola oils or polyunsaturated oils such as corn, safflower, soy, sunflower, cottonseed, and soybean oil. Avoid foods with excess fat within them such as meat (especially liver and fatty meat), egg yolks, whole milk, cream, butter, shortening, pastries, cakes, cookies, gravy, peanut butter, chocolate, olives, potato chips, coconut, cheese (other than cottage cheese), coconut grease, palm oil, and fried foods. I am so? Pardon.
My Cholesterol be over 6.
It should be about 4ish.
I now pocket Simvastatins and have cut out cheese, salt, sugar etc and I am very soon down to 3.8!
Take action now since you have a heart attack (like I had).
Your total cholesterol is high but you do have a low TC: HDL ratio, which is apt. Total cholesterol needs to be <5mmol/l and LDL level should be lower than 3mmol/L ideally.
It's good that you have included the rest of your lipid profile because although have a high TC level is a risk factor for adjectives health problems. When assessing cholesterol levels, it's other good to consider the relative amounts of HDL and LDL. You should aim for a high plane of HDL and a low level of LDL (a low TC:HDL ratio).
To work this out, you divide your total cholesterol by your HDL cholesterol, which in your luggage gives you 2:0. One should aim for a TC/HDL ratio: of 4.5 or less, which you own.
Just reduce the amount of saturated fat on your diet; Try and eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables per morning. Avoid cheeses, full-cream milk, fried food, butter, etc. Use low fat, mono-, or poly-unsaturated spreads. Eat 2-3 portions of fish per week and limit brackish intake. Source(s): Cardiac Nurse
